Real Madrid beat 10-man Chelsea 2-0 behind a tap-in from Benzema & replace Marco Asensio’s strong strike at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in Spain.

“Every time you play a big knockout game you were left with the sensation that you should have, killed tie-off,” Courtois said.

“This is a fair result but we were troubled by the fact that we did not score a 3 or 7 a 4th goal. I hope we do not regret having added another when we play besides next week.”

Benzema scored his 90th CL goal, with the last 11 coming against the English clubs. He corrected 1 from point-blank range in the 21 minutes to give Real Madrid an earlier lead.

“Chelsea threatened us with a satisfactory start to the game where they counter-attacked nicely. That save I created, after we scored, was extremely valuable,” Courtois added. “As well as, they scored, it could give us a great blow mentally. I really satisfied with that stop.”

Real Madrid will take on Chelsea in the CL quarter-final 2nd leg on 18 April 2023. After that, Courtois said, his side will travel to Stamford Bridge regarding the scores were level.
