Aakash Chopra Reacts To India’s Premier Batsman Before World Cup 2023

Aakash Chopra Reacts To India’s Premier Batsman Before World Cup 2023 – West Indies vs India, 1st ODI: Team India will play the first match of the three-match ODI series against West Indies from today, July 27, which is considered very important for practice before the ODI World Cup 2023.

What Aakash Chopra Reacts To India’s Premier Batsman?

West Indies may have suffered a poor outing last month but they will be expected to present a strong challenge to the Rohit Sharma-led side. As far as the Indian team is concerned, the team will look to put up a strong show but they are facing a major concern with their batting line-up, which if not rectified soon, could cost them in big tournaments.

Team India is playing without their first-choice wicketkeeper in the form of KL Rahul. However, Ishan Kishan and Sanju Samson are part of the ODI squad for the Windies tour.

While both Rahul and Samson have played in the middle order for India, Ishaan has primarily been an opening batsman. Meanwhile, former India opener Aakash Chopra has warned that this could become an issue for the team going forward.

Aakash Chopra insisted in a video uploaded on his official YouTube channel that the wicket-keepers in the team cannot have different batting positions, saying, If Rahul is injured, Sanju Samson will come, because there is a place in the middle order but there is no place in the opening order.

Can Ishaan Kishan play in the middle order? It may be, I think Ishaan’s place is not dependent on his performance. It depends on how the balance of the team is.

Emphasizing on the confusion in the batting order, Chopra said that Shubman Gill has more or less sealed his place in the opening slot for the team. While Shikhar Dhawan is out of contention for national selection – he is also missing out on a place in the Asian Games squad.

Chopra believes that with captain Rohit being the partner of Shubman, it may be difficult for Ishaan Kishan to fit into the team. Chopra said, ‘If you are choosing a second wicket-keeper, he should bat in the same position as your first-choice keeper. If he bats at any other position, it is fundamentally different.

Aakash Chopra asked that, for example, ‘If KL Rahul gets injured and is not available for selection, you have Ishan Kishan as a backup, but if Ishan opens, will he be kept in the opening role and you will send Shubman Gill down? Will Ishan play in the middle order, knowing that he hasn’t played in that role for a long time?’

Chopra further said that, logically, Ishan Kishan is the frontrunner for the role of the third opener and second wicketkeeper, but when you think about it, your first choice is a middle-order batsman. In such a situation, Rohit and the team management will aim to solve the dilemma in the Windies series.
