IPL 2023: 5 Indian stars who shone in IPL, who could not make it to T20 series against West Indies

IPL is considered a great platform for youngsters to enter the Indian cricket team. IPL 2023 also saw many young players who were surprised by their performance.

India has to play a big five-match T20 series against the West Indies in the first week of August 2023. The Windies team currently has little stamina left in T20.

In such a situation, it will be a learning opportunity for many youths on foreign soil. But many big stars of IPL 2023 not getting a place in this team definitely raises a question.

Let us look at five batsmen from IPL 2023 who despite impressing in all respects could not find a place in the T20 squad against the West Indies.

1. Rinku Singh-

The Kolkata Knight Riders batsman scored 474 runs in 14 matches of IPL 2023 and was the leading run-scorer for his team.

The 25-year-old left-handed batsman surprised everyone with his performance. He single-handedly won matches. Despite garnering all accolades, he has not been able to impress the selectors of the Indian cricket team at the moment.

2. Ruturaj Gaikwad –

The Chennai Super Kings opener has played ODIs and Tests but has not been selected in the T20 squad despite scoring 590 runs in 16 matches in IPL 2023. The 26-year-old opening batsman has played 9 T20 matches for India and considering his form, he deserved to be selected for the West Indies tour.

3. Jitesh Sharma-

The wicket-keeper batsman from Punjab Singh was part of the T20 squad for the three matches against Sri Lanka and New Zealand but did not get a chance to play in England. He has been dropped despite a stellar performance in IPL 2023.

4. Varun Chakravarthy –

The mystery spinner from Kolkata Knight Riders managed to pick up 20 wickets in 14 matches and was the eighth overall highest wicket-taker in the tournament, but his performance proved too much for the Indian team selectors. There wasn’t enough to make.

5. Shivam Dubey –

This middle-order batsman of Chennai Super Kings was seen hitting big sixes in the IPL this time. The 30-year-old occasionally bowls medium pace and has played 13 T20Is for the Indian cricket team.

In IPL 2023, Shivam scored 418 runs in 16 matches with a tremendous strike rate of 158.33. Shivam single-handedly won some matches for his team in the last season of IPL.
