Former Sri Lankan Cricketer Sachitra Senanayake Arrested On Match Fixing Charges: Former Sri Lankan player Sachitra Senanayake was arrested on Wednesday on charges of match-fixing after appearing before the Special Investigation Unit (SU) of the Sports Ministry.

The Special Investigation Unit arrested him when Senanayake surrendered in the morning. Recently the court had banned him from going abroad. In fact, last month, the basketball magistrate issued an order banning the 38-year-old player from traveling abroad for three months.

The directions were given by the Attorney General (AG) to frame criminal charges against the former cricketer. According to the allegation, Senanayake had allegedly contacted two cricketers from Dubai to fix matches in the first season of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) in 2020.

The 38-year-old played one Test, 49 ODIs, and 24 T20 Internationals between 2012 and 2016. Sachitra Senanayake has 53 wickets in her name in ODI and 25 wickets in T20 International.
